Life is better with a cat

Some time ago, I was challenged to create something with My Minds Eye cat collection for Hobbykunst. This resulted in a layout. This layout is a flat layout, compared to my usual layouts. Layouts like this are perfect for an album. 

The papers are from My Minds Eye's colllection  Cat-Itude - Meow, Here Kitty, Kitty - Meow and Kitten Party - Meow.

The bird cage is a wooden cage from Kaisercraft.

Heart on a string - a shaker card

Today, I am showing a shaker card. Since it's soon Valentine, I used a text stamp from the Cloud nr. 9 stamp set as the focal point. 

 The card frame was made with the super sweet Garden Escape Build-A-Card die set with a paper sheet from the Sincerely Yours - 6x6 Paper pad.

Creating the shaker box. 

The shaker box was created using the Happy Days Circle die set. I taped the inner circle die and the outer circle die together to make them stop moving as I was going to cut a lot of the same die cuts with the two dies. 

 Then I created a lot of die cuts in white card stock, and glued the pieces together to create a thick shaped die cut. I saved one circular die cut for the top.

After gluing the die cuts together, I added a piece of circular acetate the top of the bunch of glued circles. I then added the circular white diecut to the top of the acetate, This created the top of the shaker box. I turned the box over, added the sequences and glued a piece of card stock to the bottom of the shaker box, to close it.

I used the Garden Escape Build-A-Card die set  to create the base of the card. I added a bit of half stamped sentiment with another stamp from the Cloud nr. 9 stamp set. I added red and pink ink to the base of the card, glitter tape and die cuts stripes created with the largest die from the Eyelet Lace Rectangle Die Set. 

Then I added the shaker box.

Then I added the sentiment, stamped on one of the left over circles from the shaker box.  The fence and the sign post are die cuts created with dies from the Garden Escape Build-A-Card die set.

Enkle restekort med stempler fra Huldra designstudio

Like før jul skulle jeg arrangere juleverksted for en gjeng med ungdommer. Her skulle det produseres enkle kort som skulle selges videre. Over flere år har jeg lagt resteark i en pose. Ofte har jeg gitt posen videre til barnehager og skole når posen er full. Men nå valgte jeg å ta et dypdykk i resteposen for å lage utgangspunkt for enkle kort. 

Alle kortene var like store. Panelene ble kuttet ut av diverse mønsterarkrester. Panelene kuttet jeg til samme størrelse. Disse var 8,5x10,5cm. Kortbasene ble kuttet til 9x22cm, og disse ble scoret på 11 cm. Alle kortene her brettes i toppen av kortet. 

Alle stemplene som er brukt her er fra Huldra designstudio. Disse tekststemplene har morsomme norske tekster og har enkle figurer som er lette å fargelegge. Dette gjør at Huldrastemplene egner seg godt for slike hobby og juleverksteder for barn og ungdom. Sirkler og ovaler er kuttet med Silhouette og ikke med dies. Dette er for at kuttingen og tillaging av materialpakker skulle gå raskt. Her er det vist tre eksempler på enkle kort.

A Valentines card

 Christmas and New Year has passed and we are getting closer to one of the other days, where we are often giving cards - Valentines day. Today, I am showing you a valentines card created with the Cloud No. 9 stamp set. 

The card is a center step card. The size of the card has been made to fit the Eyelet Lace Rectangle Die Set. I have added the template for the card below. The main card has been created from white card stock. Dotted lines are scored lines. Lines are cut lines.

All the panels are made with papers from the Sincerely Yours paper pad. The papers are cut 1/2 cm smaller than the the card stock. To make sure the card can be folded, I didn't cover the scored lines on the card stock with panels.

In the middle of the front step card, I added a die cut created with the Eyelet Lace Rectangle Die Set. I also added a die cut with the largest die from the Scalloped Rectangle Die Set. These dies will fit within each other perfectly. 

The image has been stamped with LDRS hyprid ink - Raven and Cloud No. 9 stamp set.  The image has been diecut with a circular die from the Fancy circle die set. I made sure not to cut the cloud. The Love word is an old text die from LDRS - Love. 

I hope you enjoyed the center step idea for the card. A lot of LDRS's die sets go really well together, like the large die from the Eyelet Lace Rectangle Die Set and the largest die from the Scalloped Rectangle Die Set. So have a go and test it out.

Creativity takes courage

Sometimes creativity is taking of a bit. Here, I have created a layout with an old photo.

I have used the papers Cobalt and Province from Kaisercraft's Wandering Ivy collection. The bricks are from Kaisercraft's sin Basecoat 4 collection - Scraped.

I have used cheesecloth that I am standing on. I used a cork tag from Rayher. These are super to stamp on. The blue butterflies are from Kaisercraft's Indigo Skies collection. The white flowers are  Mathia flowers. The diecuts are from Kaisercraft. The text "Creativity takes Courage" is from Tim Holtz. The little yellow flower on the left, is a vintage brads from Rayher. 

The steps are really washi tape that looks like a film strip. I have drawn on the washi tape with black marker to make it look like steps instead.

Top 12 in 2018

It's the time of year when a lot of crafters are showing the top projects from the past year. My year has been a different year. I have had fewer blog posts than I have had for a few years. Full time work and studying at the same time, together with living in two different towns has taken a lot of my time. 

This year I have stepped down from a few design teams, and I have been on Hobbykunst's design team, LDRS creative's design team and a writer for online magazine The Papercrafting. I am aslo a design team leader for Hobbykunst and Huldra designstudio.

I have chosen 12 projects from last year. They are creations from all my design teams, some of them on show in Hobbykunst's shop' and some of them on show at Creativation in 2018. Some of these projects will be on show at Creativation this winter.

Vinter og juletags - Hobbykunst sin julekalender

Rett før jul hadde vi julekalender i Hobbykunst sin blogg. Førjulstiden var rimelig hektisk for meg, med eksamen og sykdom midt oppi det å forberede jul. Derfor ble det å legge ut innlegg i egen blogg lagt litt på vent. Her er noen av gavelappene som ble laget rett før jul. Jeg koste med med Huldra sine humoristiske tekststempler, Rayher sin julestjernedies og papirrester.

Arkene er rester fra Papirdesign. Motivene er rester fra et ark fra Home for the Holidays kolleksjon.

I bakgrunnen har jeg brukt stensiler fra Rayher med snøkrystaller og gesso. Disse stensilene er selvklebende, og det er superlurt. Dette hindrer stensilene i å gli når du bruker dem. Stempelet på denne tagen er fra Huldra designstudio - Julekatt & julehund Clear stamps.

Julestjernen her er hjemmelaget med Rayher sin Christmas star dies. I midten er det brukt Wireklemmer i sølv.
