Fun with Mixed Media

I took this photo of my reflection in the sunglasses, last time I was in Australia - on Shell beach at Monkey Mia, Western Australia. I have saved the photo for a fun project.

I decided to do a Mixed Media with a selection from my bits and bobs boxes.

I must admit - Yes I am a hoarder of Mixed Media stash. Always on the lookout for old clocks (gears), old computer parts, sewing machine and type writers. I dismantle them and stock all the bits - and sort them into boxes. A few people have asked me - "What do you do with all those bits and bobs?" Here is an example of what I make.

The background paper is from Prima: Boussole - Cartographer and Bo Bunny (Somewhere in time Evening mist). The Bo Bunny paper was something I won through The Paper Crafting. Flowers are mostly from Prima. I have used Gesso, acrylic paint and distress paint to paint the background. I have also used gesso and a Tim Holtz stencil to create some background effect.

The Mixed Media canvas is a DTcontribution for Hobbykunst

A pop-up mini album

We have a summer inspiration over at StampARTic. This time, I have created a pop-up minialbum. I will hold a class in creating a similar pop-up album, at a craft gathering in the northern part of Norway.

I have mostly used Prima papers and embellishments. The photos are family photos, most of them from the UK.

We are geocachers. We are often "Out and About" and looking for caches behind road signs and telephone boxes.

Marmite is something you either love or hate, our family is split in this discussion...
.

The grass has been cut with a Silhouette.

The pop-up bench is my own design.

The London Eye is also my own design. The ferris wheel goes round.

I have made a short video to show some of the pop-up pages:

A birthday layout

There is a new challenge over at StampARTic. I made a layout, from an old photo of my daughter. This is from her second birthday.

The background paper is an old paper from Melissa Frances. I have used dylusions spray, gesso and stencils to create the background effect. I have also used painting tape on the background and embossed it with silver and Fran-tage embossing powder. I have also used a random set of stamps on the background. The paper stripes are from Prima - Hadock Park - tag collection

Found Objects - A Prima PP Layout

My dog often wants to be around me all the time, also when I craft. So I decided to do a layout with a photo of the dog. I was challenged by Hobbykunst, to create something out of a canvas and a golden frame.

The canvas was used as a background. The background paper is Primas Lily Princess. I used Gesso, stencils, and distress paint to create the effects on the background paper. I covered the frame with Mod Podge, and with paper from Kaisrcraft: Weathered - Base Coat, and sealed it with another coat of Mod Podge. The tiles and banner are made with cardboard and old Prima papers.

This was the theme for March Prima Product Pick. It was filled with beige, blue and green flowers, banners and gorgeous colours.

Since the photo was with the dog and a tape roll, I decided to decorate with Washi tape. I find it difficult to use in projects - so I used an old roll. The bird is a clay figure made by Gunn-Eirill.

I used  a distressed lacer cut wood boarder from Prima. The "Found Objects" is from Tim Holtz.

The flowers is mostly a mixture of old and new Prima flowers. I have used cheese cloth in layers between all the flowers.

The Wild side

Last weekend I took some steam punk photos with some friends. I wanted to challenge myself and make a LO out of one of my photos. I really don't blog a lot of LOs, and I have often found it difficult to make a LO with lots of layers and making my own background - so I made the decision to have a go.

As a background, I have used Prima paper - Orchestra Lyric,  box office lyric and Prelude Lyric. Inside the split at the top of the page and on the banners, I have used Prima - Botanical - My Darling. I have also worked on the background to get some texture. I have used a handmade stencil and gesso to make the brick pattern. The bricks have been coloured with distress ink. The edges of the page has been coloured with gesso and Stewart Gill Meta Mica Verde Gris

Some of the flowers are made from Mathia flowers, some are from Prima and some are from Penny Lane. Some of the gears are cut with gear dies by Tim Holtz. I have used old soda cans and cardboard. The gears have been painted with gesso, Meta Mica and Alcohol ink. Some of the gears have been cut in gold paper using a silhouette.

The chicken wire pattern has been made with a homemade stencil and distress ink.

The tag frame - is a dies from Tim Holtz. The tag has been cut in cardboard, painted green and then I have added a thin layer of gesso.

The text - The wild side - is a digital stamp, that I made. I am giving it as a freebie.

LO with hand made embellishment - another craft class

In March, I am going go have a craft class at "Ski treffet". This time, I am going to teach how to make hand made embellishment. This includes making different flowers, "miniature jars" and miniature frames.

I have added some of the embellishment to an LO, just to show how they can be used. The only embellishment which is not handmade here, are the leaves. I took the photos just before last Christmas on the beach in Broome, in Western Australia. The background paper is "Juledrømmer - ventetid" from Poppydesign. The bricks have been added by using a home made stencil and "Snow Paint" from Panduro.

The BP spirit - deep in my heart
