Mixed media canvas, published in TPC

This is a mixed media canvas, created for the magazine TPC last autumn.

I have used stencils, pastes, and lots of bits and bobs from my mixed media draw. The flowers are from different minicacturers, but there are also hand made roses, created with Prima paapers.

I often start with creating structure on the canvas with stencils and pastes. Then I have used an old frame, pieces from an old computer and left over pieces from the concrete industry. .

The picture has been sprayed black, and then I have worked on the other colours. I have used blue and lilac paints and carefully spray painted in white. The motive s from Queen Mary i Long Beach.

Wishing you a good week.

A Prima layout with old collections

After moving house, packing up my craft room and establishing a new one, I have found some of my really old craft stuff. I have really loved Prima for many years, so I do have a lot of old Pria collections. I have never really wanted to throw them away or give them away. So this was a chance to create something new with some old collections. This layout was created for an article for the magazine TPC, to give crafters inspiration to create new things with old collections and craft stash.
The background paper is from Prima's Pastiche collection - Heartstrings, from2010.  Some of the other collections are from 2011.

The text - Never stop exploring is from a stencil from Rayher.  The yellow paste isa white thick paste from Rayher, colloured with yellow Colur Burst pigment.  The photo is one I took myself in New York-

The layout has become a new style layout with older collections.

I hope this inspired you to find some of your older collections.

Mixed media canvas with tutorial

Mixed media is a fun and creative way to use old  bits and bobs you have at home. This is an artile I wrote for the magazine TPC last summer. Here, I have use and old pair og scissors, metal bits and old trash. I have also shown a tutorial in potos and video.

First, I added embossed paper to and old piece of MDF. Then I glued paper die cuts, metal and the pair of scissors. I used Liquitex heavy gel as glue.

After the glue had dried, I put the piece in a cardboard box and spraypainted it black.

For this project, I used black spraypaint from Biltema.

When the spraypaint had dried, I used a mix of pink and read paint and cobber was from Finnabair. Follow the video tutorial bellow to follow the painting process.

Good luck.

Mixed media canvas and class with Color Burst Pigments

Today, I m showing a canvas with Colour Birst pigments. This is a class I had a few weeks ago. Colour Burst pigments, are strong coloured pigments that works well with water spray/mist. I chose to use the colours blue, brown, black and silver in this canvas.

The camvas was first decorated with microbeads, polystyrene beads, hand made roses with old Prima collections, Heartfelt flowers, lace and old beaded necklaces. Vanilla

I used lace and cheesecloth and Hobby Line's Deco Hardener. This is a medium that will harden cotton materials. Everything was painted white and Ken Oliver's Color Burst Powders were added. This powder has very strong colours, so add it carefully. Also only add a few colours, as a lot of colours mixed together could make it look messy.

All the flowers are handmade. I have made some of the roses with Heartfelt's classic rose set. Some of the flowers are made from die cuts and old Prima collections.

The word Beautiful has been cut in a black foam sheet from a dies fromTim Holtz, Thinlits Die Set - Adventure Words: Script.

Steampunk googles - Published in TPC

Steampunk has always facinated me for some reason. Gears and victorian inspiration are some of the key words to steampunk. Airships, googles and a very specific way of dressing up. These steampunk googles has been made from some old welding goggles and was published in the magazine TPC a year ago.

I have used a leather texture paper from Kaisercraft - Cherry Tree Lane - Leather with wooden and metal gears from Finnabair, black and cobber spray paint and wax and paint from Finnabair.

The google itself, are old welding goggles. They were dismanteled before they were altered. Paint will generally not fix to plastic. Therefore I sanded the down a bit and added serviets as decopage first. After that I painted the googles.

The glass has been covered with washi tape, before I spry painted the googles.

I used the paper from the Cherry Tree Lane from Kaisercraft to get the leather pattern at the back of the googles.

Then I added gears, and dry painted with Finnabair's cobber metalic paint and wax.

Happy crafting.

Prima flowers - a layout published in The magazine TPC

Last winter, Hobby Lobby had a challenge to create selfies with flowery backgrounds int the shop. I thought of creating similar backgrounds, but never found the right one in a shop. Then I found a small field with daisies outside the university in i East Anglia in England, a fantastic spot for a selfie. The "typical" Prima layout is often created with lots of flowers in layers, with die cuts and with pretty Prima papers in the backround, coloured and created textures on with paint and pastes.

This layout was published in the magazine TPC, last year.

The papers are form Prima's Santorini collection - Together at Santorini Florals. Dies are Prima's  Metal Dies - Forest Leaves and lace dies. Fishnet dies is a Kaisercraft dies. I have aldo used old wooden figures and wheels, Paradise sign, and tiles from my old pile of Primas bits and bobs. Flowers are from Prima.

The layout has been bouilt up in layers with 3D tape in between to create dimension.

The diecuts and cut out tickets from Prima paper has been layerd. In between the flowers, I have added car polish yearn. This is a super trick to create more volume in the flowers in the project.

In the end, I sprayed some white gesso for effect. I used a toothbrush to spray the gesso. This gives you some control over the fine spray.

In between, I have also added a bit of bling.

Nevelfjell - A Prima layout with stones and map lichen

This is a simple mixed media layout I created for the magazine The Papercrafting a while back. It's no secret that Prima has been one of my favourite brands for a lot of years.  Therefore, I also have a lot of Prima stuff and old collections in my craft studio. This layout was created as an article to inspire to use some of your old craft stuff that you might have in your craft room.

The papers are Prima's Salvage District colletions - Chateau and Forever Green collection - Watch them grow and  Nature's Bounty. To create the stones with moss, I used Prima paper and painted it with Rayher kreativ concreate paste and FolkArt moss paste. To create the grass, I used car polishing yarn and coloured it with different green alcohol inks. I painted the sky with with a mixture og white gesso and blue paint with a spunge.

All the items have been mounted with 3D tape in layers, to create dimensions in the layers.

Good luck with finding old scrapping collections in your craft rooms.

Perfect - A Prima layout in Pink

This layout was created for the magazine The Papercrafting a while back.

I used Prima's paper Cherry Blossom Garden - Cherry Blossom Gold Foiled as the background paper. The paper was worked with to create more colours and effects at the edges. I added sequinses and square beads at the edges. Then I used a stencil with gesso to create some texure. Then I used sprays from 13 arts to add some colour.

The word "Perfect" is chipboard, and has been spray painted in copper.

Leaf dies are old dies fromPrima. The fishing net die cut has been made with a die from Kaisercraft. The flowers has been cut from Prima's Amelia Rose - Dark Florals fra Prima. I used 3D tape between the layers to create dimentions. The photo is from Maihaugen in Lillehammer in Norway.

Tiny Art

I got inspired by several artists to create "Tiny art", and these were published in The Papercrafting in the beginning of April. This was to show, that you can create a lot of cute art pieces, just by using old craft stash you have lying around in craft supplies.

All the small art pieces are different, and created with old bits and pices from my craft supply. They have been made on a set of chip board pieces. I used texts from Tim Holtz to fit each art piece. Some of the pieces has been created in clay with a moulds from Prima and other brands.I also used small beads, half beads. All the tags were sprayed white before I used green and gold 13 arts sprays and white gesso.

With brave wings she flies

The face, is something I got in a craft swap with a friend many years ago. The wings has been created with clay from one of Primas moulds.

Have an open heart

At the base, I glued on lace from Kaisercraft and microbeads. Then I added some string around the piece. I added a heart and a key, beads and charms.

Great things take time

Here, I used two pocket watches in thick card board. I added microbeads, cork, wooden heart and a wooden number from Tim Holtz. After painting and sprayng, I added beads inside the watch on the top.

Use your wings

At the base, I used lace from Kaisercraft and an old zip. The frame has been moulded from clay. The angel was originaly on a small clothes peg, but removed and added to the project. I added beads inside the frame after painting ad spraying.

Remember to play

This item is a "lift" of one of Finnabair's famous projects. I used an old zip, lace from Kaisercraft and microbeads at the base. I also added string before i spraypainted the tag. I added a small spoon at the top, and added beads after painting the tag.

Happy crafting.
