Live the adventure, a sail boat pop up card

We have a new challenge over in Kaisercraft's blog. This is a card challenge based on a colour palette (shown below in this blogpost).

This card has been created with the Island Escape collection. The front of the card has been decorated with a motive from the collection.

I have added a small pop-up boat inside the card. The boat has been built from paper from the collection, and the sails has been built from white cardstock.

The back of the card has been simply decorated with patterned paper and a personal stamp.

A vintage frame

Hobbykunst has got some fantastic sweet MDF frames in different sizes. Here, I have used the  14,5cm x 14,5cm frame.

The frame has been simply decorated. First, it has been painted with a mixture of white and brown acrylic paint. When the paint has dries, it has been painted with white acrylic paint. When the white paint had dried, it has been lightly sanded, to create a more distresses look. 

The picture inside the frame, has been simply decorated with paper from Kaisercraft. I have also used some old collectables from Kaisercraft as text around the photo. The flowers are Hobbykunst's Mathia flowers,

The frame has it's own support at the back. You have also got the possibility to hang the frame on the wall if you like.

Vintage signs

Today I am showing a hand made vintage sign for the online magazine, The papercrafting. Interior decor/ home deco is one of the trends that has been in the crafting community for a long time. Vintage signs has been popular for a long time, but now we often see them with a bit of humor. When I looked for a quote to have on my sign, I found the simple sign quote "If your are looking for s sign, this is it". I decided to go for that for my first sign.

The sign is 15cm x 14cm. The sign has been created by gluing together some wooden pieces, sanding it down and painting it black.

Then I created the text as a stencil. I used Silhouette studio to design the stencil, and cut it out with a Silhouette.

At the edges, I have used paperstrips from Kaisercraft's Glisten collection. The paper has been added with gel medium. When the gel medium had dried, I sanded the edges to wear it down a bit.

Kaisercraft's new Ubud dreams collection, is a fantastic sweet collection. The colours are fantastic. For this layered mixed media layout, I have used lots of diecuts. 

I have used Kaisermist on the background paper, before I layered the layout. There is also cheesecloth between the layers and lots of wooden flourishes.

A doll with a paper dress - Created for LDRS for CHA - winter 2017

 I decided to show something different for CHA for LDRS creative. I wanted to show some of the embossing folders, together with dies. For the white layers of the dress, I used the Timeless embossing folders and the new Picnic Quilt Embossing folder, to emboss white card stock. This created a nice texture for the white parts of the dress. 

All the flowers are hand made, and the dragonflies, created with together with the Key Tailed Dragonfly Die Set, are featured in between the flowers. I also created small gears with the same die set, and added the gears between the flowers. The paper ribbon, has been created with The Basic Cutting Edge Border and the Fancy Rectangles die set.

I also added some hand made roses to the hair of the doll. 

The base for the doll, is hand made. I have used the new stamp "Time For A Cuppa" from the Candi Bean collection, under the base.  

The paper collection used for this dress, is Lemoncraft's - Gossamer Blue.

Mixed media on Styrofoam?

A few weeks ago, a few of us at Hobbykunst was discussing the idea of creating some mixed media on a styrofoam medallion. This had to be tested, and here is the result. 

The styrofoam medallion was mounted on a wooden stick. The wooden stick was then mounted on a wooden spool.

I used old jewelry parts, metal pieces, beads, metal from Finnabair, and different kind of bling. I used Liquitex heavy gel as glue and let it dry over night.

The medallion was painted black. When the paint had dried, it was painted with white acrylic paint, cobber, and different blue Finnabair paints and different mists. Then I added flowers. 

In between the flowers and the mixed media, I mounted a wooden flamingo and a little wooden palm. These are from one of Rayher new wooden sets.

The other side has been decorated in a similar but different way.

The word "Sweet" and "Smile" is from a new wooden text set from Rayher.

Cards with Cherry Tree Lane Collection

Kaisercraft's new collection Cherry Tree Lane, is fantastic for those vintage cards. For these cards I have used Specialty paper Perforated letters (PS476).

There are five cards in total, using the coloured images from the paper as the focal point and the cards, and the other images as layers under this image.
