Peat Pot Christmas Scene

I love Putz houses or glitter houses. Kaisercraft's glisten collection - inspired me to make another glitter house.

I find it fun to decorate small peat Pots before Christmas. Here, I have created a tiny house, and added a small electrical tea light to the ceiling, inside the house.

The small peat pot has been painted white, before it was decorated.

The golden Christmas tree at the back is made with a golden pipe cleaner, just curling it round as a spiral Christmas tree. The white tree is a miniature Christmas tree that I got from America.

The little house has been cut, using a Silhouette. The house is my own design. The top can be taken of the reveal the electrical tea light inside.

I have added a piece of string around the pot, and added the "joyeux noel" embellishment.

Shaker box with a shaker card

Glisten is this months Christmas collection from Kaisercraft. It is a wonderful Christmas collection, full of gold and silver and lots of "shiny bling" in the paper. This is a fun collection to create with.

I often give away small Christmas presents, like gift cards and sweets, in a decorated box. This is a small box, created with a shaker box at the top.

The box has been created from scratch, to fit the image used at the top. I have added golden beads inside the shaker box.

The box is simply decorated inside with dotty, golden, glitter paper.

I often decorate my boxes inside, to give them a finished look.

I have also created a small card with the box. The shaker card has been created with the same collection, and with the same type of beads as the shaker box.

A little Christmas treat jar

I am showing another small Christmas gift idea for Hobbykunst today. This is a small jar, that can be given as a small gift for a teacher, as a small Christmas or neighbor gift.

The jar has been decorated with the new papers from Papirdesign "Gledelig jul".

On the top of the lid, I have created a small 3D landscape, inside half a small 7cm 3D bubble, created with half of an acrylic Christmas ornament.

The landscape has been created with a church die and a moose puch from Rayher. I have used 1cm thick stripes of paper between the diecuts. The diecuts and the paper stripes has been glued together with a glue gun,  The moose is super cute. It has been created with a punch that is cutting and embossing at the same time.

Mixed media canvas - using trash and Finnabairs Alchemy paints

This is a small canvas, created with trash, a photo, glitter cardstock from Kaisercraft and Finnabairs Art Alchemy paint.

The photo is of my little dog, that I lost this summer. She was ill, so we had to let her go.

The background is a small thin canvas, with a piece of coffee packaging glued to the canvas with liquitex multi medium. The medium is like a decoupage glue, and has been used under the packaging to glue it to the canvas, and over the packaging to seal it.

Then, I have added metal trash and beads, using liquitex heavy gel glue. This is a fantastic glue for mixed media. Then the background was painted black, and dry painted with Finnabairs Art Alchemy paint (Metallique Brass Hardware).

The text is made with a die from Tim Holtz (Tim Holtz Alterations - Thinlits - Friendship Words - Script) with Kaisercraft's glitter cardstock.

Wishing you a super weekend

Merry and Bright layout

Today, we have a new challenge over in Kaisercraft's blog. This time, it's a bingo challenge. I have created a layout for the challenge.

Kaisercraft's October Bingo

I chose the words: Embossing, Single photo, flowers and boarder.

The photo is from a temple in Nara in Japan, during the Obon festival, a year ago.

I have mixed wooden flourishes with collectables, flowers and bling.

The bottom half of the layout is embossed with a floral embossing folder.

Concrete, rust and moss paste.

Hobbykunst has got new concrete paste in the shop. It fantastic to work with, together with the moss and rust paints from Folk Art. Here, I have tested a combination of all these products.

The frame is from a flee market. It was old and the paint peeled off it. I liked the pattern on it, and painted it with the concrete paste. I used the sponges that came with the paste, to paint the frame. Rince the sponge under cold water after use, and you can reuse it.

The canvas used here, is 10x10cm. The canvas has been covered with the concrete paste. I have used the moss paint different places around the canvas for effect. The moss paint has been added with sponge.

The heart has been cut out from black cardboard. It has been painted with rust paint. First the dark brown paste, and then the light paste here and there. The paint has been added with a sponge.

A mixed media Christmas Star

It is Christmas soon. In two months, the Christmas stars are popping up in Norwegian windows. Here, I have created a small and different Christmas star, with gold leafs, rust paint and acrylic paint.

There is a lot of fantastic things created by other artists online. You don't always find out everything yourself, if you look around. The idea for this star, is something I found on a facebook page, decopagecraft.com, where a similar technique were used to create some Christmas ornaments.

Creating the Christmas star

Paint the inside of the acrylic star with mediun or decopage glue. Add gold leaf and let it dry.

Paint over the leaf gold, on the inside of the star. Use rustpaint in places and paint with brown acrylic paint. Let i dry.

Paint with black acrylic paint over the brown paint, inside the star, and let it dry.

The star has then been decorated with a painted pearl string around the edge. The decoration in the middle of the star is metal and clay, painted black, and drypainted with chalk paint.
