Accordion album card with gift drawer - a tutorial

We are getting closer to Christmas and today, I am showing a little card with a small accordion album and little drawer with space for a little gift. This a super "last minute present", or it could be used as a mothers day card/present or a valentine present. The card has been made with the fantastic PS I Love You collection- I just love this collection. It has a fantastic set of patterns, quotes and it has a wonderful set of pink and gray colours. 

The card is only 11cm x 10cm x 2cm. The card has been decorated with wooden icons, flowers, quotes and collectables.

I have used a ribbon to "lock" the card. 

Inside the card, I have left space for a photo. 

The accordion album can be opened and is filled with quotes and space for photos.

Tutorial

Cut out the pieces as shown above. The top part is the cover of the card. The middle part is the drawer. The bottom part is the album. you need 7 of these little album pieces. Score as marked on the photo.

Fold the cover of the card.

Fold the box for the drawer (left) and the drawer (right).

Glue or use strong double sided tape and glue as marked above. 

Glue the two parts.

The drawer fits inside the drawer box.

Glue the drawer box inside on the back of the cover of the card. Center it at the back side. (If you would like to use a panel inside the card, fix the panel before you glue the box to the base).

The card should now look like the card on the top.

Collect all the accordion album pages. The pages should be scored and be left with a 1cm margin on each side. Glue on every other margin, as shown above.

Collect all the pieces and glue them together, on every other margin.

All the album pages collected together.

You have now created the accordian album.

Glue the accordion album the the box on the inside of the card.

You now have the finished card, and it is ready to be decorated.

Christmas ornament with a little caravan

It has been a lot of ornaments this Christmas. For me, it's becoming a fun challenge, to build different things inside these ornaments. 

This ornament is 8cm i diameter, and has been created with one of Kaisercraft's collections from last year, Sail away. The little caravan is built from paper, and the shape is based on a photo of a vintage caravan.

The little tree, has been bought in America.

Christmas ornament with a vintage gramophone

Today, I am showing a Christmas ornament for the magazine The Papercrafting. I have made a few ornaments this Christmas, with houses, churches and a car. I thought of making something different, and created a vintage gramophone in paper, inside an 8cm ornament.

The ornament is created from papers from different Prima collections.

The little Christmas tree, is a tree I got in America last Christmas.

Mixed Media trees

It's one week until Christmas. I have made some small tree ornaments for Hobbykunst with some wire trees from Rayher.

All of the trees are made with in the same way, by adding thick string, thin cotton or paper strips. 

Around the first tree, I have added some thick string. The string has been dipped in watered out glue, before it was added to the wire tree. I have also added Stickles to the string, for effect. I have added  spruce branches, created with a Rayher dies, Mathia flowers, styrofoam balls and some bling. 

I have added some thin crochet yarn around the next tree. I have decorated with spruce diecut branches, Mathia flower and a small ginger bread cookie cutter.

On the last Christmas tree, I have added strips of paper. This is from an old Prima collection, The Bella Rouge collection. I have used muti medium glue on the paper as glue. The tree has been decorated with spruce diecut branches and cones. The cones are hand made, and made in the same way as you make "curled roses". I have decorated with some old gold beads and sticles. The tree has also got som gesso, around the edges.

Christmas ornament with a little house

Here is another little putz house, inside a little Christmas ornament. 

The house has been created with The Butterfly collection from Prima.

The little tree is something I brought back from America last Christmas.

You are special to me layout

In Norway, we have regional national costumes, and we use them for grand parties like weddings, and our national day 17th of may. The photo under features three of these national costumes from different places in Norway.

The layout is a mixed media layout, with lots of paper strips, metal, plastic, lace and flowers.

I have used stencils to create the effect on the background. I have also raised the layers of papers to create a 3D effect.

The text, is a sticker from Kaisercraft. These stickers are fantastic to create a subtle text on backgrounds.

I have ised glitter tape and glitter cardstock in between the layers.

What to do with layouts?

Often, people as what I do with all my layout. The answer is that most of my layout are not made for albums.  I normally say, there are two very different kind of layout. Flat personal layout, that you put in albums and 3D and mixed media layout, that could be mounted on a canvas or in a frame, and looks fantastic on the wall.

This layout is heavy, and 3D. It would take about 3 layouts like this to fill an album. Therefore I found an old golden frame, repaired it and spray painted it white. The frame was perfect for this layout.
